If the diagnosis clearly points to a single solenoid fault, replacing just that one is more cost-effective. However, note that the 0B5 mechatronic unit is complex and contains 16 solenoids. If the valve body's channel plate is worn, or if a stuck solenoid has contaminated the hydraulic system with debris, replacing just the solenoid may lead to rapid failure again. In this case, replacing the entire mechatronic unit is more reliable.
